The Everleigh announces return of Classic Cocktail Book Club

In a delayed celebration of a decade of the Everleigh, the bar is hosting an evening of stories and cocktails tomorrow (27 September) in partnership with Bombay Samphire.

The Classic Cocktail Book Club originally ran monthly in 2014 and 2015, and was born out of the cocktail book collection of the Eveleigh’s Founder, Michael Madrusan.

“I was fascinated with Michael’s impressive collection of classic cocktail books and expert insight into the characters and drinks that shaped the history of mixed drinks,” says Co-founder Zara Madrusan (Michael’s wife).

“After much encouragement, I persuaded him to invite Everleigh regulars back in time, diving deep into the books, figures and drinks that defined, and continue to have significant influence on cocktail culture,” Zara continues.

The first edition of the revived club will focus on William Schmidt’s 1892 publication The Flowing Bowl – What and When to Drink.

The event will be hosted by the Everleigh’s Venue Manager, Katya Owens, who will lead the discussion of ‘the people, events and drinks that defined a moment in time.’ Guests are welcome to discuss any points of interest, or raise any questions, at any time.

As the conversation progresses, guest will be introduced to five favourite cocktails from the book, served throughout the evening. All the drinks in this series of events will be made with Bombay Sapphire, or spirits from the Bacardi Martini portfolio.

Corina Retter, Bombay Sapphire’s Brand Ambassador, stated that the brand was excited to partner with the Everleigh on these events.

“We are proud to support this monthly initiative, sharing cocktail knowledge with industry leaders along with the next generation of bartenders.

“I look forward to a night where knowledge and debauchery combine,” Retter added.

Each event will run for two hours from 7:30pm. Tickets are $65 per head, inclusive of five cocktails and light food. Click here to purchase.
